Advanced Traffic Management Center in Baton Rouge 

A student tour was organized to the ATMC in the Spring 2016. Two groups of approximately 15 - 20 students each toured the ATMC facility guided by Mr. Micheal Falcon, Traffic Engineer for the City Of Baton Rouge - Parish Of East Baton Rouge. This facility performes actions such as traffic surveillance, incident detection, traffic control, motorist information, and ramp metering control.

SPRING & FALL 2016

Traffic Sign & Signal Shop - City of Baton Rouge: 

A student tour was organized to the traffic sign and signal shop of the City of Baton Rouge in the Fall of 2016. Two groups of approximately five students each toured these facilities guided by Mr. Ingolf Partenheimer, Chief Traffic Engineer for the City Of Baton Rouge - Parish Of East Baton Rouge. Students experienced the design and production of traffic signs. They also learned more about traffic operations and control. This tour was also assisted by Mrs. Sarah Edel, DPW Traffic Engineer, and the team from the sign shop.

Port of the Greater Baton Rouge:

ITE LSU Student Chapter members visited the Baton Rouge port in Fall 2015.  Mrs. Karen K. St. Cyr, Director of Public Affairs of the Port of Greater Baton Rouge was our tour guide. Students learned about the importance of marine transportation, the funding and logistic challenges of the port, and the variety of products that arrive or leave the port. The students saw the functioning of the port. They were excited to watch a vessel brought in with goods!

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport:

The ITE-LSU Student Chapter members visited the Baton Rouge Airport in Spring 2015. The student chapter met with the Assistant Director of Aviation of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, Mr. Ralph Henessy, to learn more about airport planning and development. On the same day, the Student Chapter visited the Baton Rouge airport traffic control tower. The visit was also assisted by Dr. Brian Wolshon, professor at LSU.
