Student Chapter Officers
Dr. Julius Codjoe is the faculty co-advisor of ITE-LSU student chapter. Dr. Codjoe is a Research Associate at the Louisiana Transportation Research Center (LTRC) and an Adjunct Instructor at LSU. His research interests include Distracted Driving, Human Factors and Driving Simulators, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Traffic Operations and Control, Traffic Safety, and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. He ensures successful transition of successive leadership, advises the student leaders in their duties to the student body, and promote the professional and academic welfare of the student body.
Dr. Sherif Ishak is the faculty-advisor for ITE-LSU student chapter. He has 29 years of experience in the transportation field and over 15 years of extensive education, research, administrative, and leadership experience as a faculty member and an associate dean of engineering. He strongly believes that this dynamic field offers a broad spectrum of career opportunities for civil engineers, especially those with interest in today’s transformational technologies and their impact on the way society moves. The ITE student chapter is a great avenue for undergraduate and graduate students to join forces and learn together more about the opportunities this exciting field has to offer.
Nelida Herrera is the Past President of the ITE-LSU student chapter. She successfully ran the chapter from Spring 2014 - Fall 2016. She is currently a PhD graduate student majoring in Traffic Engineering. When asked about her inspiration to work for ITE, she candidly expresses "The ITE Student Chapter provides a unique opportunity to advocate the field of transportation/traffic and advance my career." Her duties included establishing and maintaining contact with the Student Chapter Advisor and ITE Section Executive Board, leading and organizing all Chapter Officer Board and general meetings, and planning tours and networking socials. She also led all advertisement and fundraising efforts and helped update the Student Chapter's website.
Grace Ashley is the fundraising chair of ITE-LSU student chapter. She is a graduate student studying transportation engineering. Her duties primarily include raising funds for chapter's events and activities.
Kelley Keegan is the new treasurer of the committee. She is a Senior undergraduate student, and is interested in all aspects of Transportation Engineering. When asked about her inspiration to her chapter involvement, she responds "While taking Dr. Codjoe's class, I became very intrigued with transportation. Dr. Codjoe told us about a new transportation student organization called ITE, so I instantly wanted to join. When I was offered an officer position, I immediately accepted!" Her duties include organizing and maintaining all ITE LSU files and emails, in addition to corresponding and providing information to members.
Elena Farhadi is the Vice President of the ITE-LSU student chapter. She is a Ph.D. student in Transportation Engineering at LSU. She has been supporting the student chapter activities for about a year. Her duties include supporting the Student Chapter President and helping coordinate events.
Pranjal Phaltane handles the design side of the student chapter. He is in-charge of making flyer, t-shirt designs, and logos. Also, he photographs the events, and helps publicize the efforts of the LSU chapter on social media and through website. He is a Master's Graduate student working at Louisiana Transportation Research Center in the field of Pavement Engineering.
Divya Kolasani is the new secretary of the committee. She is a Graduate student, and is interested in Transportation planning, Traffic intersections modeling, and Simulations.. Her duties include sending out the announcements to ITE Student Chapter members and other fellow students..
